I'm Larry, Work & Org Psychologist specialising in the behaviour and performance of people at work. I am a peer-reviewed author and lecturer in Leadership, Motivation & Positive Psychology at Dublin Business School. My business background extends over 20 years in the services industry.
Some Background…
Qualifications
I hold a first-class honours degree in psychology from DBS Dublin and an MSc. Work & Organisational Psychology from DCU Business School. I am a peer-reviewed author and a graduate member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and the Association for Coaching. I am also a registered Psychometric Test User with the British Psychological Society, which allows me to conduct assessments of personality, ability and intelligence.
Experience
My business career began at 25 and spans 20+ years in the construction and service industries working with national and international clients. In sport, I've been an enthusiastic and committed amateur in the GAA since I was a child. After I became too slow, I took up extreme endurance running, completing over 80 marathons and ultra events since 2015. Today I run and attend CrossFit for health & fitness and maintain an interest in sports performance.
Background
My background is in SME business and endurance sports, so I work best with business owners, executives, athletes, and the self-employed. My theoretical perspective is blended and includes psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, and person-centric approaches aiming to help you develop and refine the psychological skills necessary to function and deliver your best under pressure.

FAQ
Can human performance psychology make me successful?
Unlike machines, humans are inherently unpredictable. We might be able to say about a given person or group of people after a given time and under certain conditions, that particular results are likely, but we can't be sure. Human beings are complex and wiggly. We can't quite seem to pin ourselves down to any concrete set of rules. After all, why would we if we could? Life would be way too boring if it were as predictable as that. So, you must find out what works for you. The psychology of human performance can point you in a positive direction but can't make your life how you wish it to be. That's your job.
How can I be sure that you're suitably qualified to help me?
This is a perfectly acceptable question that all bonafide facilitators, therapists, and councillors must be willing to answer adequately without being explicitly asked. However, your success and how it looks comes down to you alone. Nobody can do it for you, but they may point the way. Here's a brief account and links to further information.

How much do private sessions cost?
Private consultations start at €100 per session and vary in price depending on the length of session and number of sessions required. You should keep in mind, however, that psychological treatment that brings lasting results is not like getting your car fixed or your office printer serviced. It will take time for you to figure yourself out, and in that uncertain place, you may waste thousands on snake oil and the promises of well-meaning charlatans.
An impactful psychological intervention attempts to go to the root of your problems and challenges, it does not just clear the weeds. So, if you want to bring about lasting change in your life and work, schedule an initial chat. The first one is free.
How long do I need to attend sessions?
You will ultimately decide that. Keep in mind though, as I mentioned, psychological treatment is not a quick fix. You may find a resolution to your problems, clarity and direction in your work within a couple of months or maybe longer. Some may choose to retain my services on an ongoing basis, as a mentor, or psychological coach forming part of a team of professionals working with you. Regardless of your particular needs, change is in your hands. I act merely as a facilitator.
How long is each session?
Sessions can vary between 10 mins to 1 hour depending on the nature of the discussion. Costs remain unchanged.
Do you work with groups and teams?
Yes, my specialisation is the behaviour and attitudes of individuals and groups in work and organisational settings. I work with coaches, managers, and trainers in corporate and sporting environments. We work on culture, strategy, leadership, ethics, motivation, wellbeing and many other aspects leading to peak performance.
About Performance Psychology
The psychology of performance attempts to understand the human cognition and behaviour associated with the pursuit of excellence and optimal performance. It is applicable to a wide range of domains including the arts, business, sport, medicine, music, emergency services and many others. A performance psychology coach or consultant helps performers in these domains, manage anxiety, cope under pressure, develop their mental game and deliver their best work on a consistent basis.
